Mark came up with some great ideas for the layout of our bathroom and the best use of the available space. His installers came and did an excellent job, completely stripping out the old bathroom and building beautiful new one. They were reliable, punctual, and cleaned up their mess after themselves. Mark and his team of builders undertook the construction of a garage and self-contained dwelling at our Remuera property over the summer of 2010. From start to finish Mark managed the project with care and diligence. His attention-to-detail and extremely high standards resulted in a fantastic finished product. Mark took the opportunity to make constructive suggestions to our original design, resulting in a much more user-friendly building and one that was very much in keeping with our 100 year old villa. Mark was always available to talk through the various options and the most cost-effective solutions, to ensure the building came out in line with our expectations. Mark organised and liaised with all subcontractors ensuring the contract ran seamlessly. If an issue did arise Mark ensured the matter was rectified and corrected in a timely manner. It was definitely our lucky day when we were introduced to Mark van den Anker. He has helped us over the past few years in terms of general ad hoc maintenance around the home, a four week overhaul of a home we were about to move into and most recently managing and executing a major renovation of our garden and landscaping.
Mark and his team are the most courteous, helpful and diligent tradesmen I have ever encountered. They take great pride in their work and this is evident in the finished product. Everything is executed with great attention to detail and a focus on ensuring that each job is done properly right to the end. As strange as it may sound, we were also extremely impressed with his billing! It was extremely refreshing to see everything laid out so clearly and itemised, together with supporting documentation such as time sheets and third party invoices. We had complete confidence that we were being charged fairly for work carried out and there were no hidden costs.

We engaged Mark Van Den Anker to extend a small upstairs bedroom to create a new master bedroom and walk-in wardrobe. This necessitated considerable structural modifications dictated by a structural engineer, as well as the usual architect plans. Mark’s team worked diligently and very professionally to complete the build as per the design specifications. Mark provided overall project management, including liaison with all subcontractors (plumbers, electricians etc.) and council inspectors, as well as offering extensive suggestions before and during the project. As a result of the build quality, obtaining a final Code of Compliance certificate was relatively straightforward. We have had no problems since completion. We would be happy to provide further comments to prospective clients if requested.

The work took approximately six months to complete and during that time Mark Van Den Anker acted as project manager keeping a close eye on everything and dealt with council inspections on our behalf. His team of builders were very efficient and professional in every way and certainly made what could have been a difficult time for us much easier.
When the work was completed and the code of compliance issued by the council we were more than happy with the quality of the work from Van Den Anker Construction Ltd and were then able to get the best possible price for our house when sold.
